Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight

 Cartoony games

World War 2 is the first major conflict where planes were used on a massive scale. Sure, they were used in WW1, not in a manner that their wings blotted out the sun. In any case, this was the war where thousands of bombs were dropped from the sky and where ace pilots made a name for themselves. If you want to put yourselves on the shoes of these pilots, Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight provides a decent experience.

More of an arcade game than a flight simulator, you’ll fight off waves of enemy planes and bomb ground targets. In fact, WW2 Dogfight feels and looks much closer to War Thunder but feels like Ace Combat. It provides a robust and action-packed gameplay experience and is comparable to playing Ace Combat, though on novice controls. Speaking of the controls, even those with zero knowledge of aviation games will get a hand of them like it’s second nature.

Unfortunately, the game’s aerial dogfighting experience is undone by its base-building mechanics. The menial tasks of constructing hangars, managing a base, and constructing defenses are things the game can do without. Though some players might find it fun, it completely deviates from the dogfighting and is more of a bother. The devs should have streamlined the experience. Instead, progression should have been done using aircraft tiers like in War Thunder or World of Warplanes.

Overall, WW2 Dogfight provides a fantastic dogfighting experience that is unfortunately hampered by the questionable and forced entry of the base-building aspects. It is a great entry point for anyone who wants to play aviation games thanks to its easy to learn and intuitive controls. So, time to take to the skies for your country and start fighting!
